Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Glencore PLC (LON:), which rose 4.03% or 18.25 points to trade at 471.50 at the close. BAE Systems PLC (LON:) added 3.01% or 23.00 points to end at 787.40 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:) was up 2.22% or 15.60 points to 719.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:), which lost 5.37% or 7.00 points to trade at 123.45 in late trade. CRH PLC (LON:) declined 3.79% or 121.00 points to end at 3,075.00 and Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:) shed 3.35% or 67.00 points to 1,931.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1283 to 509 and 438 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.01% or 0.25 to $1,722.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.45% or 2.13 to hit $89.00 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.95% or 2.74 to trade at $95.76 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.07% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.23% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 109.80.
