U.K. shares higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.19%


Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in London, the added 0.19%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:), which rose 4.64% or 37.00 points to trade at 835.00 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:) added 4.17% or 3.28 points to end at 81.94 and EasyJet PLC (LON:) was up 4.17% or 14.70 points to 367.40 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Ashtead Group PLC (LON:), which lost 2.44% or 105.00 points to trade at 4,207.00 in late trade. BP PLC (LON:) declined 2.30% or 10.65 points to end at 452.70 and BHP Group PLC (LON:) shed 1.98% or 44.00 points to 2,183.50.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1006 to 795 and 435 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.64% or 11.05 to $1,711.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.23% or 0.20 to hit $86.67 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 3.25% or 3.11 to trade at $92.63 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.86.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.67% at 110.25.
