Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:), which rose 3.70% or 360.00 points to trade at 10,100.00 at the close. SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (TYO:) added 2.97% or 16.00 points to end at 555.00 and Shionogi & Co., Ltd. (TYO:) was up 2.78% or 190.00 points to 7,030.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included East Japan Railway Co. (TYO:), which lost 1.18% or 84.00 points to trade at 7,011.00 in late trade. JTEKT Corp. (TYO:) declined 1.04% or 11.00 points to end at 1,047.00 and ANA Holdings Inc (TYO:) shed 0.98% or 26.00 points to 2,635.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2297 to 1172 and 311 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.02% to 20.06.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.74% or 0.62 to $84.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.86% or 0.77 to hit $89.92 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.01% or 17.30 to trade at $1,737.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 1.22% to 142.34, while EUR/JPY fell 0.21% to 143.73.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.05% at 108.56.
