U.K. shares lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 1.20%

Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, the fell 1.20%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were AVEVA Group PLC (LON:), which rose 3.08% or 91.00 points to trade at 3,050.00 at the close. BP PLC (LON:) added 0.81% or 3.70 points to end at 461.55 and BAE Systems PLC (LON:) was up 0.43% or 3.40 points to 794.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:), which lost 14.59% or 116.00 points to trade at 679.20 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:) declined 6.22% or 8.85 points to end at 133.40 and Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:) shed 4.97% or 42.20 points to 807.40.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1361 to 502 and 425 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.37% or 23.90 to $1,716.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.60% or 2.28 to hit $85.50 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.69% or 2.53 to trade at $91.47 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 1.26% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.18% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.06% at 109.24.
