The biggest gainers of the session on the were Ocado Group PLC (LON:), which rose 3.23% or 21.00 points to trade at 671.00 at the close. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:) added 1.82% or 18.20 points to end at 1,017.00 and Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:) was up 1.79% or 22.00 points to 1,253.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:), which lost 4.67% or 229.00 points to trade at 4,670.00 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:) declined 3.62% or 13.00 points to end at 346.00 and DS Smith PLC (LON:) shed 3.31% or 9.10 points to 265.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1255 to 567 and 435 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.43% or 7.15 to $1,684.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.67% or 0.57 to hit $85.67 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.00% or 0.91 to trade at $91.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.49% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP rose 0.64% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 109.46.
