Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the rose 1.10%, while the index added 0.98%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the were Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:), which rose 5.83% or 251.15 points to trade at 4,559.35 at the close. Cipla Ltd. (NS:) added 5.40% or 56.00 points to end at 1,092.30 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:) was up 4.24% or 37.10 points to 911.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shree Cements Ltd. (NS:), which lost 0.94% or 221.00 points to trade at 23,180.10 in late trade. Grasim Industries Ltd (NS:) declined 0.81% or 14.15 points to end at 1,735.20 and Nestle India Ltd (NS:) shed 0.76% or 142.90 points to 18,622.35.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which rose 4.71% to 915.75, IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:) which was up 3.12% to settle at 1,264.20 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which gained 2.88% to close at 4,217.10.
The worst performers were Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.64% to 18,645.55 in late trade, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (BO:) which lost 0.19% to settle at 232.55 and Infosys Ltd (BO:) which was down 0.14% to 1,388.35 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1182 to 659 and 48 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1994 rose and 1333 declined, while 124 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 5.73% to 18.80.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.11% or 1.85 to $1,676.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.32% or 0.27 to hit $85.09 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.06 to trade at $91.94 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.02% to 79.71, while EUR/INR fell 0.15% to 79.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 109.56.
