Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:), which rose 2.50% or 1.20 points to trade at 49.00 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:) added 2.23% or 2.36 points to end at 108.34 and EasyJet PLC (LON:) was up 1.91% or 6.60 points to 352.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:), which lost 9.63% or 64.60 points to trade at 606.40 in late trade. Persimmon PLC (LON:) declined 6.50% or 93.00 points to end at 1,337.00 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:) shed 5.64% or 24.20 points to 404.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1319 to 533 and 438 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.27% or 4.45 to $1,673.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.98% or 1.69 to hit $83.67 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.80% or 1.66 to trade at $90.34 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.54% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 109.93.
