U.K. shares lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 1.94%


Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, the fell 1.94% to hit a new 1-month low.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Experian PLC (LON:), which rose 1.94% or 50.00 points to trade at 2,627.00 at the close. Halma PLC (LON:) added 1.78% or 36.00 points to end at 2,061.00 and Intertek Group PLC (LON:) was up 1.35% or 50.00 points to 3,761.00 in late trade.

Biggest losers included NatWest Group PLC (LON:), which lost 6.05% or 15.60 points to trade at 242.40 in late trade. Anglo American PLC (LON:) declined 5.94% or 168.50 points to end at 2,670.00 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:) shed 5.93% or 33.80 points to 535.80.

Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1525 to 350 and 427 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.60% or 26.90 to $1,654.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 5.56% or 4.64 to hit $78.85 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 4.82% or 4.36 to trade at $86.10 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 3.17% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP rose 1.99% to 0.89.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.29% at 112.54.
