Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

The biggest gainers of the session on the were Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:), which rose 4.19% or 35.00 points to trade at 869.60 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:) added 3.48% or 24.00 points to end at 714.20 and Sage Group PLC (LON:) was up 3.36% or 23.20 points to 713.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:), which lost 7.09% or 7.31 points to trade at 95.84 in late trade. Persimmon PLC (LON:) declined 6.63% or 89.50 points to end at 1,260.50 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:) shed 5.12% or 20.80 points to 385.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1215 to 664 and 420 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.29% or 21.35 to $1,634.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.60% or 2.05 to hit $76.69 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.66% or 2.26 to trade at $82.77 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.63% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP rose 0.83% to 0.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.98% at 114.07.
